What is Ergonomics?

Ergonomics is the science of fitting jobs to the people who do them. Injury can result when there is a mismatch between the physical capacity of the person and the physical demands of their jobs. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) affect the muscles, nerves, blood vessels, ligaments and tendons. Lancaster Safety’s Office Safety and Ergonomics Training will review workplace risk factors, control measures, MDSs, electrical safeguards, stacking/storage, and slips/trips/falls. Other topics that may apply include Emergency Action Planning, Fire Safety, HAZCOM, Illness Prevention, Employer/Employee Responsibilities, and any other hazard that employees might come across on the job.

How are you sitting or standing right now?

Musculoskeletal disorders are the most common and oftentimes overlooked injuries in the workplace today. They’re also completely preventable!
