Why Do I Need This Training?
This program is not required by OSHA, however, it may be required by your state or local jurisdictions, or as part of a contractual agreement to perform work. The goal of this training is to bring awareness to workers about workplace hazards, as well as promote workplace safety and health. It is also important to note that this training is not a substitute for the training found within the many OSHA standards.
Program Differences
There are two separate training programs for employees. The 10-hour training is more geared towards general employees, whereas the 30-hour program is intended for the employees that will have additional responsibilities in promoting a safe and healthy workplace, such as a supervisory role. There are also various types of courses for different industries. Some of these include but aren’t limited to construction and general industry. These ensure the information presented are more applicable to the type of work you are performing.

Online vs Onsite Outreach Training
There are definitely pros and cons for completing outreach training both online and in a live teaching setting. Online outreach training offers the user the flexibility to complete the course at their own pace and around their own schedules. The downside to this is that people may become easily distracted if taking the course online from home and miss key pieces of information during the training. Online training also does not allow the user to ask questions throughout the course in the event they don’t understand a particular subject or need further clarification. In addition, most online outreach training options require a quiz to be completed following each session to ensure the user has retained the knowledge on a particular subject and if full attention isn’t being provided during the training sessions, there is potential to fail the course. Onsite training with a live instructor allows for group discussions, question and answer sessions, and a more personable experience to ensure that attendees fully understand the material. Live outreach training also does not require you to complete a quiz or test so there is no risk of failing and having to retake the course.

According to OSHA statistics, the annual number of trainees that have completed this training has steadily increased throughout the years, indicating the importance of having employees complete these courses. They do a great job in increasing awareness regarding workplace hazards and promoting a safe and healthy work culture.
