Making a determination if hazards are present or are likely to be present is an essential part of the hazard recognition process.  We can analyze work tasks, procedures, and various operations to identify hazards associated with each.  Sometimes we may rely on more accurate data such as noise or air monitoring in order to establish a baseline exposure.  We can then compare exposure amounts to established allowable levels.  These comparisons can help guide us to proper control measures.  Sometimes hazards are more obvious and are a direct result of equipment operation or a certain task.
