OSHA’s most recent estimates indicate that between 35,000 and 62,000 injuries occur every year involving forklifts with 36% of forklift-related deaths involving pedestrians. Provide your employees with forklift safety training for pedestrians in order to prevent these incidents!

Powered industrial trucks, commonly called forklifts or lift trucks, are used in many industries, primarily to move materials. It is estimated that close to a million lift trucks are used in the US, which contributes to a substantial amount of work related injuries to operators as well as pedestrians and others working in areas where forklifts are operated. This module will take a closer look into the potential dangers associated with working near powered industrial trucks.
Know the Risks!
Working safely among forklifts does not just fall on the responsibility of the forklift driver. As a pedestrian, it is important to stand clear of forklift blind spots and work outside of designated forklift paths. Making eye contact and avoiding distractions like headphones and cellphones can ensure the safety of both you and the forklift operator.
